Gorilla Trekking in Uganda
Gorilla trekking is Uganda's most iconic wildlife experience and one of the most powerful wildlife encounters in the world. It involves hiking through dense rainforest to observe endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.
The experience takes place in southwestern Uganda within the lush tropical forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. These parks are home to nearly half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas.
Getting there usually involves a scenic road trip or domestic flight from Entebbe or Kampala to towns like Kisoro, Kihihi, or Kabale, followed by transfers to the park.
The best part of gorilla trekking is the one hour spent observing a gorilla family in the wild. Watching their human-like behaviour, family interactions, and calm presence is an emotional and unforgettable experience.
